Wayne has been around high-performing Jersey cows all his life. His father, Ray, is recognised as one of New Zealand’s elite breeders and the Shaw’s fourth generation farming operation is known for owning the highest BW Jersey in the country.

Last week, (May 2012), Paul & Carol Shaw weighed their 9 month old, spring-born 2011 kiwi cross- replacement heifer calves. There were 143 animals in the mob and they had been raised on the Queen of Calves Nutrition Program. They averaged 247 kilograms. How do these heifer calves compare to DairyNZ's 9 month crossbred target?
